Shiraz Ahmed is a filmmaker, visual artist and educator. His work addresses social inequities, faith communities, and the unending attempt to better our world.

Ahmed’s short film, “This World,” (2024) on young adult American Muslims was selected for the inaugural 2024 Islamic Art Society Film Festival and the 2025 Rung Film Festival. His short documentary, “The Safety Net,” (2023) is available online via Detroit Public Television (PBS) and was selected for the 2024 Prison City Film Festival, 2024 Freep Film Festival and won Best Documentary at the 2024 Duke Independent Film Festival. He has participated in fellowships with NBC Universal, Kartemquin Educational Films, the New York Foundation for the Arts and Documenting Detroit.
