The Beards of Muslim Men (2018)

Photography, graphic illustration

This project is a remixed portrait photography project on the representation (self and as intermediated by popular media) of Muslim men. Created as part of the C. Eric Lincoln Fellowship in Theology and the Arts and exhibited in Duke Chapel. Ten portraits were created and printed on Hahnemuhle matte photo rag, paired with quotations from the men about how faith and belonging manifest in their physical appearances.

Presented with an artist talk.

Visitors from Duke’s Eid-al-Fitr celebration view the Beards exhibit at Duke Chapel, 2023.
